Ready to Work Initiative
Aparicio-Levy Technical Center is pleased to announce that they are now a certified Ready to Work testing facility. Ready to Work is an innovative new program created to meet the needs of Florida’s employers through testing that will measure participant workplace readiness and skills.
As a result of the new Department of Education Ready to Work program, which is funded by the Florida legislature, Florida’s businesses will find it easier to identify job applicants who possess the skills needed to be successful in the workplace.
A Florida Ready to Work certificate will be issued to each participant who successfully demonstrates mastery of four key skills that are part of the WorkKeys Assessment: Reading for Information, Locating Information, Applied Mathematics and Workplace Readiness. This is an invaluable tool for employers and/or prospective job applicants. It will provide employers with information that will make it possible for them to match the skills of an individual applicant with the skills required for specific occupations. Job candidates who have the Ready to Work credential will be able to present employers with this pre-verification of skills.
Throughout the year, Aparicio-Levy Technical School will be offering employers and pre-service employment agencies the opportunity to send participants to take the Ready to Work assessment at no cost. Participants need to be pre-registered in order take the assessment. Please call 740-4884 to register your participants and get the newest RTW schedule!
The assessment will be conducted online. When a participant attains the required scores, a Florida Ready to Work certificate, signed by Governor Charlie Crist, will be awarded, and sent to the participant’s home. Each certificate will reflect the skill levels achieved.
Aparicio-Levy Technical Center is looking forward to assisting you, your company/agency or your organization, by assessing prospective job applicants and providing a recognized credential for inclusion in a professional portfolio.
