How to Get Started
Aparicio-Levy Technical Center is part of Hillsborough County Public Schools and its five-campus, Hi-TEC adult-technical network. Any person over 18 years of age is welcome to register for a class on the campus. In most cases, the potential student should call or visit the campus prior to registration and obtain the most current costs and schedules. If the student is not sure of what program or course of study they would like to take, they should then make an appointment with the Career Specialist, who will assist them in choosing the most appropriate training, based on career goals and interests. Depending on whether the program is a Continuing Workforce Education - CWE course (generally these are fairly short-term trainings) or an Occupational Completion Point - OCP course (usually a much longer, career-preparation training), there are certain documents and procedures that must be completed in order to take the class:
Short-term Workplace Training (CWE) classes
For a CWE (short-term) class, student must:
- Complete a registration form,
-
Pay for the class or provide approved documentation of intent to pay by a recognized sponsoring agency, business or district office,
-
Attend the class, and if all curriculum requirements are met, student will receive a certificate of participation.
Career Training (OCP) classes
For an OCP (career-prep) class, student must:
-
Complete a registration form,
-
Provide a copy of current drivers license and social security card,
-
Pay for the class or provide approved documentation of intent to pay by a recognized sponsoring agency, business or district office,
-
Provide the school with a copy of a current TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) score. This is required for ALL career-prep trainings.
-
Attend at least 88% of required clock-hours.
-
Meet all curriculum requirements and/or demonstrate proficiency of skills and student will earn the OCP and receive a certification of completion.
