Although we are offering a Fall Tampa Fire Rescue class that will begin at the end of August, we do not have any open seats available. The August class was filled with a class that was scheduled to start back in April, but was canceled, plus our current EMT students.
We expect to offer both a Tampa Fire Rescue (day) and a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (night/Saturday) class in January 2021. We will be posting all registration information and updated forms on our website by October 15. You will also find the date of the mandatory orientation posted on this website.

The Tampa Fire Rescue program, formerly operated under Learey Technical College, will now be operated under Aparicio-Levy Technical College. Nothing will change except the title of the College operating the program. Both Learey and Aparicio-Levy are Technical Colleges within the Hillsborough County Public Schools system. Aparicio-Levy Technical College will now operate BOTH the Tampa Fire Rescue and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue programs.
This program follows the State of Florida Firefighter I & II curriculum, which offers a comprehensive training that prepares the candidate to take the State Certification exams. The curriculum includes the framework set by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
The Firefighter program is very demanding – both academically and physically. Students need to be physically fit in order to be successful in this program. See Qualifications link for more information.
Length of the Program:
398 hours, plus a 52-hour local add-on class designed to prepare students for their State Certification exams.
The Tampa Fire Rescue class meets Monday – Thursday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, January 13 to April 28, 2020. This class is 4 months long.
The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue class meets Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, 6:00 – 10:00 pm, and Saturday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, February 11 – July 30, 2020. This class is 6 months long.

Students also will have other expenses including medical exam, fingerprinting, personal purchases, testing fees, etc. See Fee Sheets link for details.
